The Deconstruction of Visual Certainty
In the sixth edition of the "PERSPECTIVES" exhibition format, the gallery confronts two distinct artistic disciplines linked by an epistemological inquiry into appearance versus reality. Under the title "ILLUSIONS," the lenticular photographic works of Cécile Plaisance and the anthropomorphic marble sculptures of Norbert Jäger enter into a substantial, cross-media discourse on the fluidity of form and perception.
  • Cécile Plaisance dismantles the traditional one-dimensionality of the photographic medium. Through the deliberate application of lenticular technology, she moves beyond the static captured moment, introducing both a temporal and narrative axis into the image. The reception of the artwork becomes inextricably linked to the physical movement of the viewer within the space. This shift in perspective triggers a visual metamorphosis: the work unmasks societal conventions, negotiating questions of voyeurism, female autonomy, and the ambivalence of the body in the digital age.
  • Norbert Jäger operates within the realm of material transformation. His sculptural practice is rooted in overcoming the inherent physicality of marble. Jäger strips the monolithic block of its rigid weight, translating the mineral substance into an organic, almost textile-like dynamism. The torsions and fluid ridges of his amorphous torsos generate a haptic paradox: the unyielding stone simulates elasticity and delicate opacity, visually dissolving the boundaries between stereotomic mass and tectonic lightness.
"ILLUSIONS" manifests not merely as an optical trick, but as a conceptual investigation into the instability of visual truths. Where Plaisance liquefies the pictorial medium, Jäger dynamicizes sculptural matter—creating a synesthetic symbiosis that compels the viewer to constantly revise their own standpoint.
